I went back to Hawaii, for a high school reunion for the first time in many years. It was like a magical rediscovery of my youth again and an opportunity to fall in love again with the absolute beauty of the Hawaiian Islands.
I stayed with a high school friend, who had a lovely condo overlooking the Hawaii Kai waterways and beyond them we could see the ocean. We enjoyed having our wine on her balcony in the evening, where we watched the setting sun, with a soft Tradewind cooling our faces.
During my visit, we visited an arboretum that was filled with the colorful trees and plants of Hawaii. I decided when I arrived home I would complete a series of the plants and flowers of Hawaii and this is painting is included in that series.
