The Art Show Gypsy
I started my art gypsy career rather late in life at the age of 60, after retiring from a 40 year career in accounting. Unfortunately my and age and physical condition didn't bode well for the challenges that lay ahead in my new career.
I purchased a Ford Van conversion, "Big Blue," for the shows I had booked , all over California and into Oregon. I could haul my art and stands and sleep in the van, once my vendor stores were set up in the various shows. It was great fun participating with other artists (My tribe) and meeting all of the nice people who attended art fairs.
My career ended up being short but sweet because I kept injuring myself while setting up my canopy and hauling and unloading my stands and last but not least my art. It was an adventure, especially for an old lady who had spent far too many years sitting in an office chair.
I share all of my various art show adventures with this book; it could be considered a "Cautionary Tale," or may motivate a younger artist to just go for it. It's a fun read either way.
